Mozambique Covenant Partnership

Covenant partner delegation leader, Denise Ingels writes: ”I don't think there are words to describe our experience in Tete and Songo.  It was a wonderful and intense spiritual and emotional experience and I will try to give you a short version”… Read the full story of how this small delegation’s visit made a huge difference for the people of Songo UMC in Mozambique.

Each year churches, groups and individuals have an opportunity to make a commitment to a church, district or clergy staff-person in Mozambique. New covenants and covenant renewals are needed yearly. The standard covenant is a three-year, five-part commitment to:

1. Name a layperson as Mozambique Ministry Leader for your church or group and establish a way for them to receive e-mail.

2. Put the name of your covenant partner and pastor on your church or personal prayer list and pray for them weekly.

3. Write to your covenant partner at least once a year.

4. Support your covenant partner financially ($990/year for a church and $1,320/year for a district are the standard terms - these can vary if necessary).

5. Send five or more e-mail addresses from your church or group to The Initiative to receive information from Mozambique firsthand.

Upon receipt of a commitment card, you will be assigned a covenant partner and sent a packet of information. As information, letters and photos are received from our representative in Mozambique, they will be forwarded to you. These partnerships not only make disciples and make a difference in Mozambique, but fully engaging in the covenant can make a difference in your own congregation. Please consider this opportunity for ministry in the world!
